Mason Margut is a pianist and composer based in New York City. He has performed at iconic NYC venues such as Birdland, 54 Below, and Rockwood Music Hall, and notable venues around the country including the Ravinia Festival, Savannah Music Festival, and with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. His music can be heard in “A Friend of the Family” (2023, Peacock), and his score of the film “Free Time” (2024, Cartilage Films), was acclaimed as “warm and impeccable” (Currant Jam). A skilled accompanist, Margut has performed at Columbia University, Manhattan School of Music, Florida State University, and is currently on faculty at New York University, where he plays for recitals, masterclasses, and repertoire classes. A compassionate, knowledgeable educator, Margut has taught on faculty at New York University, and led masterclasses with Rialto Jazz for Kids, Swing Central, and Florida State University. He recently music directed “A Little Night Music” (American Theatre Group), starring Kate Baldwin and directed by Hunter Foster. Margut holds a Master’s degree from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.
