Pianist and Composer

 

Mason Margut is a pianist and composer currently based in New York City. Born and raised in Melbourne, Florida, Margut went on to study with Marcus Roberts at Florida State University, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2018. After graduation, Margut was a fellow with the Steans Music Institute at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago under the direction of Billy Childs and Rufus Reid.

Since relocating to Atlanta in the fall of 2018, Margut has performed frequently around the southeastern U.S., with appearances at Rudy’s Jazz Room (Nashville), Savannah Music Festival, Jacksonville Jazz Festival, and with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. He has also studied with pianists Fred Hersch and Benny Green.

Margut is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in piano studies from New York University, where he also teaches as adjunct faculty.
